The Resources Within

“Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of my work is when I see young people realising how powerful they are. When it dawns on them that they have, within them, everything they need to get to the other side of their eating disorder.”

Some of the turning points in my own personal journey came about when I reconnected with my passions, and when I finally resolved to say ‘no’ to different things that didn’t serve me.

In any fight against an eating disorder, education and nutrition are obviously key, but maybe the single most important thing is mindset. In my TikTok groups, I often look at the inner ‘ED’ voice. (The Eating Disorder voice that is in your ’ead!)

When young people realise that they have a choice… and that they don’t have to ‘give in’ to those voices that don’t serve them… and also that they can choose to react differently to comments that might trigger them… that’s when they can start to turn the tables and get back on the road to wellness.

In running the different events I have with young people, parents and teachers, it makes me realise just how much wisdom is ‘out there’.  It’s in us coming together – those with questions and those with the answers – and by pooling that wisdom, that I believe we can make a dramatic difference together.
